Kathleen Maroney, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, & Founder
Kathleen started practicing Baptiste Yoga in 2001 and was instantly hooked. Prior to discovering yoga near her country house in Rhode Island, she owned her own bakery, Kathy’s Kitchen in New York City’s West Village. After many years as a New Yorker, Kathleen made South County Rhode Island her full-time residence and embarked on art school at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in nearby Connecticut, while still practicing yoga daily. In 2007 after years of practicing yoga and a desire to deepen her practice, Kathleen attended Baron Baptiste’s Level 1 Bootcamp. Kathleen subsequently started teaching yoga in 2010 while completing her 200-hour teacher training certification and attended Baptiste’s Level 2 Bootcamp the following year. Kathleen also attended Baptiste’s Art of Assisting and became a Baptiste Certified teacher in 2011. Before opening Luna Vinyasa in the fall of 2016, she taught extensively throughout the Southern Rhode Island and Southeastern Connecticut shoreline at Vinnie’s Jump and Jive, High Street Yoga, Sol Vinyasa Yoga, Pradipika, Irie Yoga, Fresh Yoga, and Zen and Now. In addition to teaching, Kathleen cotaught her first 200-hour teacher training in 2015 and began offering them at Luna Vinyasa in the fall of 2017. In early 2020 to further her personal training, Kathleen received her 500-hour teacher training at Kashish Yoga in Goa, India and has taught over 4,000 classes to date. Kathleen firmly believes anyone can do yoga, regardless of their flexibility, as long as they show up with an open mind. When she isn’t at the studio, Kathleen enjoys painting, traveling, and going to the movies.
